Hark, the Herald Angels Sing!

Charlton 2 West Ham United 0

Celebrating

Having committed myself to using the title of a carol for all postings up to 6 January, I have landed myself in a stew, or pickle, or some other comestible, maybe jam. I mean, what if Charlton had drawn with West Ham? Or lost? Are there any suitable titles? I've already used In the Bleak Midwinter. As for the one I have used today, well, it was originally going to be Ding D**g Merrily on High, but I then figured the page might find itself listed among the results of searches made by porn enthusiasts, or fans of Vietnamese currency of course (hence the asterisks).

However all was well, and 2006 dawned with Charlton fans feeling happier and more hopeful than we have for some time. Further commentary and a report, by Frankie Valley, here.

Incidentally, as regular readers will know, it was Frankie who conceived the idea, and adapted the logo, for the Lawro campaign (featured at top right), so imagine my consternation this morning when I checked in with Frankie, as I do every day (and you should, too), to find a redesigned site, and no logo to be seen.

This, coupled with the fact that, for the first time since the campaign started, two months ago, Lawro had correctly predicted a Charlton victory (mind you, he said the score would be 2-1, and that it would be a bloodbath with red cards all over the place - it wasn't), made me wonder whether the campaign is to be wound up. However Frankie assures me that the omission of the logo was an oversight which will be rectified, and the campaign goes on.

Everton tomorrow, a match which pundits will see as a good bet for a draw. This gives me the task of finding a suitable carol to use as a heading. Any ideas? Of course we might win and I'll be forced to use the one containing the word d**g.

Happy New Year
