Charlton Athletic and the media, Madrid daily life and the quiz team.
Monday, November 01, 2004 Curbs In Charlton 1 Middlesbrough 2 Oh God, another defeat, and the first home league defeat since March, which sounds like a long time ago, but in fact accounts for maybe ten games at the most. And all around the leagues, managers are being fired, or are jumping ship, because their clubs haven't started the season as well as some people hoped: at Wolves today; West Brom; Leicester; Preston; Blackburn (Sou(r)ness was going to leave anyway, apparently) and Newcastle all spring to mind without checking, and I have a feeling there are more. So should Charlton join this lot? Or should we just accept that into each life some rain must fall? And with the league structure as it is, not everyone can win - it isn't Alice in Wonderland out there you know. I still maintain that we have a wonderful manager who has ably demonstrated that he knows what he is doing. It is though, as Wilfred Pickles used to say, not much fun, is it? posted by Jonathan Blake @ 21:00 0 comments 0 Comments: Post a Comment << Home Reference Links Frankie Valley All Quiet in the East Stand (Inspector Sands) Addicks Championship Diary (Wyn Grant) New York Addick Livescore Charlton Athletic FC Latest Posts Sneezing in Morse Still Stranded Stranded on an Icelandic beach A Week is a Long Time in... The production and layout were all done by non-English speakers, and that meant that all the writing had to be done by me. My own name appeared as editor and also over what I regarded as the best piece of the month. "Jonathan Blake" (the first name and surname of two acquaintances from university) was the name I made up (I thought then, and still do, that it has a nice ring to it) for second-best pieces and general features. It's nice to be able to resurrect Jonathan after all this time to help me out with the writing.... View my complete profile
