Only Second

I had a good night out at the quiz this week. Maybe it's because after a hard day sitting in a quiet classroom while the students did their exams, and at the same time correcting exams which had been previously completed by other students, one felt like a little noise, company, bright lights, you know the sort of thing. Well maybe the jazz-club-like cellar where the quiz takes place is rather short on bright lights, but the company is good, and quite noisy, too.

This week (and this is not meant as an excuse for coming second) we were one team member short. Our excellent Tony, more or less recovered from his dreadful wisdom tooth extraction, was acting as quizmaster, and although we actually amassed more points than last time, 137 , our other main rivals, a team consisting mainly of two Spanish guys an Englishman and a Northern Irishman, outclassed us, possibly on the Literature round, and managed 139. For once I totally fail to see any parallels between any of this and Charlton's current fixture list. Maybe this is just as well.

Oh well, it's been nice to jot down these few thoughts, but a further stack of marking awaits me, so I must be off..
