Slight Improvements

Aston Villa 0 Charlton 0

After letting in quite a lot of goals lately, Charlton are once more allowed to use central defender Talal El Karkouri, sent off unfairly in the West Brom match by referee and Bolton Wanderers squad-member Mark Halsey, and the difference is amazing. A 0-0 draw.

As is customary with 0-0 draws, the press reported it as having been 'ground out', whatever that might mean. What they would have liked to say is that it would have been more fun if Aston Villa had joined the many other Premiership sides who have put four past Charlton this season, and they are rather put out that it didn't turn out like that.

There is a feeling among Charlton fans that a small corner has been turned. The defensive performance was an improvement, and at least those who gloomily predicted that Charlton would not gain another point this season have been silenced. A point is a point.

There was a very slight improvement for the quiz team last Monday, too, as, despite our not getting that elusive win we have been chasing for some time now, at least the difference between us and our once-more victorious old friends and rivals was narrowed to three points. So maybe a small corner has been turned there, as well.
